Coming off six straight losses against quality competition the WESTCO Zephyrs got back in the win column on Tuesday as they beat Ogallala on the road, 12-7.

WESTCO scored two first inning runs and then put up back to back four run innings in the fourth and fifth frames. In the fourth inning all four runs scored on wild pitches that let runners score from third base. In the fifth they got two run singles from Carter Reisig and Oscar Felix.

The Z’s got a four inning start from Thatcher Thomalla, who earned the win allowing just one hit and two earned runs while walking four and striking out one.

Jahrell Mendez closed things down over the final 2 2/3 innings giving up just one unearned run and striking out four to go along with two walks.

The top of the order had a good night at the plate for the Zephyrs with Felix, Mical Villagrana, and Moi Panduro going a combined 6-13 with five runs scored and three RBI.

On the night there were 21 combined walks issued by the two teams and I had Ogallala pitchers combining to throw 10 wild pitches, and there were a handful of hit batters in the game between the two teams.

The Zephyrs will play at the Kearney Tournament this Saturday and Sunday.

In the juniors game last night it was the Express winning big, 15-0, in four innings.
