A hefty prison sentence has been handed down to the Alliance woman who was the center of an armed standoff in Box Butte County.
Back in November, Alliance Police Officers were conducting a welfare check on a juvenile at an Alliance mobile home park, but were confronted at the door by Yadira Garza holding a semi-automatic handgun and issuing threats.
That proceeded to start a six hour standoff which ultimately ended in the early morning hours.
The 35-year-old pleaded no contest to a Class Two Felony charge of Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony, and last week in District Court Judge Travis O’Gorman sentenced her to 6-12 years in prison.
Garza did receive 263 days credit for time already served.
