World-Class Halloween Display Returns to Scottsbluff
October 17th, 2024 | Ryan Murphy

After a one-year hiatus, a world-class Halloween show is ready for its debut in 2024 just west of Scottsbluff.

Chris and Stormie Hayward debuted their redcoats pirate ship show in 2022, but did not put out their display in 2023.

“We made a lot of promises when we decided to take the year off for another project we’ve been working on,” Chris explained. “So I kind of felt like we owed it to a lot of people that wanted to see it back. So we made it happen.”

Chris says more than 100 man hours have gone into this, and he’s learned a lot since getting started.

“Well, from the previous year that we did it, I learned a lot from on the programing side of it. So this year, kind of where I’m most excited about it, I got interested, actually kind able to talk to each other. So there’s a speech involved with our show, which is kind of what I’m most excited about…. I think we have six new animatronics.”

Stormie tells KNEB News that this year’s show is different than the one that debuted in their inaugural year.

“So this year, instead of the redcoats battling the Pirates, it’ll be the pirates battling the Kraken.”

The Haywards say that the public is invited to come out and enjoy the free show, but they will be accepting monetary donations to help a local non-profit

“So last time we did it, we had a lot of people try to give us donations, ask if we were taking donations,” says Stormie. “And this year we decided we’ll accept donations that’ll go to Panhandle Humane Society.”

The display is just north of Riverview Golf Course on the west side of County Road 19, with the Thursday through Sunday show running on a loop from 7 p.m.. Folks are asked to pull in and park in the field just north of the display.
