Western Nebraska Community College’s wellness program, Cougar Strides, was recently named a recipient of the Governor’s Wellness Grower Award.
The Governor’s Wellness Award was developed to help organizations of all sizes across the state of Nebraska become recognized for their wellness efforts. The Governor’s Wellness Award has recognized 517 companies since 2008 for their wellness achievements. There are three levels of the award, the Sower, Grower, and the most prestigious Harvester Award.
“We are extremely proud of the Cougar Strides wellness program,” Jenny Keener, WNCC human resources specialist and wellness chair said. “The team works hard year round to organize wellness activities for our employees and are very deserving of this recognition.”
The Grower Award rewards businesses for changing health behaviors and creating a culture of health and wellness in their organization. The award is valid for three years.
Cougar Strides hosts wellness activities, challenges, and social events throughout the year for WNCC employees. The award committee said that WNCC Cougar Strides has displayed “exceptional leadership support along with efforts to build and sustain a culture of well-being. This program could well be on the way to the Harvester Award.”
