The Nebraska State Patrol has cited a Kansas man for motor vehicle homicide after a two-vehicle crash claimed the life of an Alliance woman Sunday.

According to an NSP release, the crash took place at about 2:10 p.m. Sunday on Highway 2 near Alliance when an eastbound Ford Escape was struck by a westbound Chevy Camero.

22-year-old Blythe Boness of Alliance, the driver of the Escape, died from injuries suffered when the collision caused her vehicle to roll into the ditch and she was ejected.

The driver of the Camero, 36-year-old Ryan McElroy, of Salina, Kansas, was extricated from his vehicle by the Alliance Fire Department and flown to Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, where he remains with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Following investigation, McElroy was cited on charges including motor vehicle homicide, willful reckless driving, and third offense DUI, and will be lodged in jail upon his release from the hospital.
