The Gering Police Department has released a little more information regarding an assault with a hammer that occurred last week on 20th Street.

Today, Capt. Jason Rogers released several images of a black sedan captured by home surveillance video.

Investigators believe this to be the vehicle the culprit behind the attack was driving. The suspect is described as male standing between 5’8″ and 6′ tall with a stalky build.

Capt. Rogers, officers were called to a residence in the 1800 block of 20th Street just before noon April 3rd and were told the victim of an assault was at a neighbor’s house asking for help.

When officers arrived, they met a male who was bleeding from his head and face, and determined the man was assaulted inside his home.

The victim said that while he was inside his house, an unknown male suspect entered the house through the front door and began hitting him in the head with a hammer. A scuffle ensued and the suspect eventually left the house.

The man was treated on scene by members of the Gering Fire Department and then transported to Regional West Medical Center emergency room by Valley Ambulance.
