Nebraska voters will still have the opportunity to choose between conflicting proposed Constitutional Amendments on abortion during the general election, as well as whether the state should fund scholarships for private or parochial education.

The state’s Supreme Court Friday issued rulings in cases on attempts to have the ‘Protect the Right to Abortion’ and ‘Protect Women and Children’ questions, and the LB 1402 partial referendum, thrown off the ballot.

Arguments in the three cases took place before the high court at the start of this week, leaving the panel with a compressed timeline for consideration.

The rulings were needed by by Sept. 13 to meet the deadline for the Secretary of State’s office to certify the questions for the statewide portion of the general election ballot.
