Reclamation officials say the first snowmelt forecast for the North Platte River Basin is well below the 30-year average, but at this time an allocation is not expected for their North Platte Project irrigation contractors.

Total April through July runoff in the river basin above Glendo Dam is expected to be 570,000 acre-feet, which is just 60% of the 30-year average.

However, the combined storage content in the North Platte Reservoirs was 1,828,600 acre-feet at the end of January, which is 112% of the 30-year average.

While there are some releases from upstream storage starting at Seminoe Reservoir, there are no releases being made at this time from the Guernsey storage facility.
