Six WNCC baseball players named OWH All-Midlands

Western Nebraska Community College baseball team placed six players on the Omaha World Herald All-Midlands JUCO baseball team that was released earlier this month.

Three WNCC players made the First Team while the other three were named Honorable Mention.

Making the First Team were pitcher Nick Tremblay along with first baseman Ashton Ross and shortstop Shintaro Inoue.

The three garnering Honorable Mention honors were Bryce Peterson, Tyler Easter, and Valentin Blanc.

Inoue, who has committed to Kansas State, hit .375 with 13 home runs and 53 RBIs last year. Inoue set the program’s career home run record and runs scored record. Inoue also had 16 doubles, 63 runs scored, and walked 31 times.

Ross, who is headed to St. Bonaventure for baseball, had a .387 batting average with 59 RBIs, 35 runs scored, nine home runs and 19 doubles a year ago.

Pitcher Nick Tremblay had a 4-2 record a year ago with one save. Tremblay threw 61.1 innings with an ERA of 4.26 with 59 strikeouts.

Blanc had a 6-4 record on the hill a year ago with three complete games. Blanc tossed 57 innings with 51 strikeouts and a 5.37 ERA.

Peterson was solid at third base last season. Peterson, who will be attending the University of Colorado- Colorado Springs next year, finished with a .328 batting average with four home runs, 18 doubles, 44 RBIs, and 49 runs scored.

Easter, who is set to attend Colorado School of Mines next year, was solid at catcher. Easter finished with a .347 batting average with five home runs, seven doubles, 43 runs scored and 38 RBIs.

Southeast Community College landed six players on the First Team including the Captain of the Team in catcher Elliott Peterson. Other members from Southeast on the First Team included pitchers Jackson Kendall, Cameron Teinert, third baseman Max Petersen, and outfielders Kohle Kerin and Avery Moore.

McCook and Northeast also had players on the First Team. McCook’s representation included pitcher Aidan Johnson, utility player Cory Wouters, and designated hitter Jackson Yeager. Northeast players included outfielder Kale Jensen, second baseman Carter Noakes, and pitcher Oliver Ward.

WNCC also had former players that made the NAIA/D2/D3 All-Midlands team.

Making the First Team included Corbin Kirk as a pitcher from Wayne State College.

Former Cougars making Honorable mention included Quinn McCafferty from Wayne State College.
