An Oct. 7 hearing has been set for a Sidney woman facing charges after a weekend shooting that left her boyfriend injured.

Saturday morning around 8 a.m., officers were called to an apartment in the 1900 block of Ash Street, finding 38-year-old Kara Driffill applying pressure to an apparent gunshot wound on the abdomen of her 43-year-old boyfriend.

In court documents, investigators say Driffill claimed the pair had been arguing, and when the boyfriend grabbed a handgun and pointed it at Driffill, a struggle ensued during which the firearm discharged.

Officers said the details surrounding the incident kept changing each time the woman recounted the story, and evidence at the scene was not consistent with her accounts of what happened.

Driffill faces 2nd Degree Assault and a drug possession charge, with bond set at $75,000, ten percent.
