Sentencing Delayed for Woman Convicted of Attempted First Degree Murder
August 29th, 2024 | Ryan Murphy

A woman who was initially scheduled to be sentenced Wednesday for a 2023 stabbing in Box Butte County will have to wait a few more months to learn her fate.

Last month, 30-year-old Rebecca Ashing was found guilty of charges of Attempted First Degree Murder, Use of a Deadly Weapon to Commit a Felony; 1st Degree Domestic Assault and 2nd Degree Assault.

Court documents say that Ashing stabbed the victim multiple times following an altercation last July at a residence on Potash Avenue.

On Monday, District Judge Travis O’Gorman ordered a 90 day evaluation, seeking more detailed information for her presentence investigation report.

She’s facing 1 to 50 years in prison on the first two convictions, and will be back in court in late 2024 or early 2025 for sentencing.
