A Scottsbluff woman is facing a felony assault charge tied to an incident last October in which she’s accused of running over a man in an apparent running domestic dispute.

24-year-old Katia Olmos was scheduled to make her initial appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court Monday on a charge of second degree assault.

Court records say Olmos was behind the wheel of her boyfriend’s Chevy pickup when it was driven onto a Scottsbluff sidewalk toward a group of people who were initially able to avoid the vehicle.

Several witnesses told police the boyfriend exited the truck before Olmos backed up, then wrestled the male victim to the ground and Olmos ran over his leg. The pair then fled the scene in the pickup.

The incident followed an apparent encounter earlier that day in Scottsbluff, in which the victim said the suspect used a vulgar hand gesture when the group encountered Olmos at a local convenience store, and she then tried to run their vehicle off the road using the same Chevy truck.

The victim told investigators he’s an uncle to the woman’s daughter.

If convicted of the charge, Olmos faces a prison sentence of up to 20 years.
