For the first time in over a decade the Scottsbluff boys tennis team can lay claim to a North Platte Invite title, as they tied Kearney for the top spot in the team standings with 88 points.

Head coach Darren Emerick on what was a big day for his program, “One of the strengths of our program is the depth – we are competing at a high level in all four positions. There are some other very good programs that feature one or two really high level players, but we are good top to bottom and that helps us finish at the top of invites and, hopefully, will pay off with a strong showing at the State Dual Invite next month.”

Scottsbluff got a title at No. 1 doubles from Matthew Hafner and Joey Escamilla while in singles play the Bearcats picked up second place finishes from Kian Blomstedt and Oliver Carpenter, who are both now 17-2 on the season.

Gering finished in fifth place in the standings with a total of 48 points.

At No. 1 singles Patrick Sauter was fourth for Gering while the No. 1 and 2 doubles teams of Bridger and Frost Wallace and also Aidyn McDonald and Dom Mendez both finished in fourth place.
