May 13th, 2024 | News Release

The Scottsbluff Public Schools Board of Education is seeking public input in the naming of the former SWBC Building, which was purchased by the District in December 2023. Interested individuals can submit ideas online at www.sbps.net/name or in person at the District Office by July 1, 2024.

There is no limit to the number of submissions that can be made, and in order to be considered, all submissions must include a rationale as to why the committee should consider the name as well as contact information for the person submitting. All submissions that meet the criteria are welcome and encouraged! Inspiration can be found from local landmarks, directions, nature, local individuals, or local history. Full criteria can be found on the submission form.

Scottsbluff Public Schools purchased the facility in order to expand Early Childhood Programming but will utilize the space for a multitude of purposes including but not limited to:

  • Bear Cub Preschool
  • Sixpence Birth to Three Program
  • Extended Care Program for ages 3-5
  • District operations to potentially include but not limited to IT, Facilities, Security, and District Office
  • Other educational purposes as determined

Ideas will be collected through July 1st, 2024 and a committee comprised of Board of Education Members, District Staff, and Community Members will review submissions and make a recommendation to the Board of Education for adoption in the Fall of 2024
