While Gering Public School students will be getting their new school year started on Monday, Scottsbluff Public School students returned for the start of their new year Thursday.

Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick told KNEB News there were really five key things they wanted families to know for the new school year.

“And the number one, we want to remind our parents that we did make some changes to our start and end times with the goal of this to provide more equitable planning time for teachers across the district,” explains Dr. Dick. “And so our elementary day was reduced by 10 minutes. And so if you haven’t seen that information yet, please check out our website. Contact your school. Look at many of the communications that we’ve sent out about that.”

He said the four other important changes to note include Bear Cub Preschool now serving 5-Year-Olds, with openings still available; the District will be partnering with the YMCA for a day camp on no school days; updates on facilities projects that continue across the District; and free virtual tutoring available through Nebraska SMART.
