September 12th, 2024 | Media Release

From Scottsbluff Police Chief Kevin Spencer:

The Scottsbluff Police Department and area law enforcement have initiated multiple investigations into several threatening social media posts. We are committed to identifying and addressing individuals who create and share this threatening information.

I want to assure parents and the community that we are taking any and all threats seriously.  As we conduct our investigation, there will be an increased police presence on and around all school campuses.

Parents, please share with your child that we take threats to their safety very seriously. We will investigate and pursue charges against those individuals who create, share, or otherwise publish these threats.

Upon seeing them, please immediately report any threats to an adult, teacher, administrator, counselor, or law enforcement officer.  I want to thank all who have forwarded us screenshots or information.  Scottsbluff School Administrators, the Scottsbluff Police Department, and area law enforcement have responded quickly and have spent considerable time investigating all reports.  We take each and every threat to any of our schools seriously and investigate them exhaustively.

Once again, we urge all community members to report ANY threatening post or picture they come across on social media to law enforcement immediately.  Please do not assume that we are aware of each individual post or other verbal or written threats.  We want to know. Your vigilance and active participation are crucial in ensuring the safety of our community.

On Wednesday, Scottsbluff Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Andrew Dick also issued a similar message
