A Gering man died following a midday crash at the intersection of Highway 26 and East 27th Street in Scottsbluff.

Police Capt. Lance Kite says that at 12:34 p.m., Scottsbluff officers were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident involving a white Subaru Outback and a sport motorcycle.

Lifesaving measures were attempted by the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Regional West Ambulance Services, and a registered nurse who stopped to assist. These efforts failed and the motorcycle rider, 32-year-old Darrius Davis, was declared deceased at the scene, while the driver of the Subaru reported no injuries.

The case was assigned to a Scottsbluff Police Department Certified Accident Reconstructionist, with Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s deputies providing additional technical assistance during an on-scene investigation lasting about four hours.

Scottsbluff Fire Department and Regional West Ambulance also provided assistance at the scene.

Editor’s Note- in an earlier version story it was reported that a semi was also involved in the crash. A vehicle matching that description remained on the scene following the crash for at least an hour, but authorities clarified it was not part of the accident.
