Scottsbluff Police Annual Report Presented to City Council

The Scottsbluff Police Department’s two captains presented the agency’s annual report last week to the Scottsbluff City Council.

As one of the busiest departments in the Panhandle, Scottsbluff P.D. saw an increase of roughly 1,500 calls for service in 2023 compared to 2022. Officers made 864 arrests, which was more than Gering and Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office combined.

Lance Kite and Krisa Brass say one of the newest pieces of technology they’re using is the ‘Automated License Plate Readers’ placed atop six traffic signals in town. Brass says those have helped them solve several motor vehicle thefts in record time.

The Department currently has 29 sworn law enforcement officers, as well as K9 Duke.

One major change they’ll see in the coming months is the selection of a new Chief of Police as Kevin Spencer transitions solely into his role of City Manager.
