A 62-year-old Scottsbluff man is facing 26 felony charges for allegedly having sexual contact with a child going back more than 18 months.

Among the charges filed against Leo A. Smith are 13 counts of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child more than 12 but less than 16 years old.

Court records say the victim’s mother contacted authorities Wednesday, and during a Capstone interview, the victim told investigators Smith and the victim had been watching pornography and engaging in sexual contact since August 2022.

Investigators say when interviewed, Smith said everything the victim had described was true.

Bond was set at $1 million, ten percent, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for March 26 during Smith’s initial appearance Friday in Scotts Bluff County Court.
