It was another big Gering at Scottsbluff matchup on Thursday night, this time on the softball diamond at SHS as the Bearcats rallied late for a 12-10.

Scottsbluff had two big innings as they scored five in the second and then trailing 9-7 heading to the bottom of the sixth inning they put up another five spot to take the lead for the first time and then held on for their 14th win of the season.

Gering opened the scoring with three runs in the first and put up four more runs in the second but then scored just three runs over the final five innings.

For the Bearcats Loural McCoy and Kay Michaelson each drove in two runs while Hannah Schneider finshed two hits, two runs scored, one RBI, and a pair of walks.

Schneider also came on in relief in the circle and earned the win, going four innings allowing just two hits and one earned run while striking out three.

On the Gering side last night the Bulldogs got multi-hit games from Danae Savala and Avah Escamilla, with that duo combining for five runs driven in.

Libby Baum took the loss for Gering.

Both teams are in action this weekend. Scottsbluff, now 14-3, plays at Crete today before the GI-Northwest Tournament tomorrow while Gering takes their 11-8 record to the North Platte Tournament tomorrow.
