Scottsbluff Falls to Hastings in Opening Game at State Tournament

HASTINGS- The Scottsbluff Bearcats opened up state tournament play Wednesday morning, falling to the Hastings Tigers, 6-5.

Scottsbluff got all five runs in the third inning and committed four errors throughout the contest.

Danielle Hunter went 2 for 3 and scored a run for the Bearcats as the only multi-hit player for Scottsbluff. The Bearcats also got one hit each from Hallie Schneider and Makayla Michaelson with Schneider also picking up an RBI.

Hannah Schneider got the start in the circle for Scottsbluff, going 6.0 innings allowing nine hit and six runs, three earned, while walking a batter and striking three out.

Hastings got multi-hit games from Madi Wenzl, Hallie Schultz and Emily Kratzer with Kratzer going 3 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. Schulz had two RBI for the Tigers as well.

Hastings advances to take on #8 Lincoln Pius X at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, who shocked #1 GI Northwest, 9-5. Scottsbluff will take on GI Northwest tomorrow morning at 8 a.m., we will have coverage beginning at 7:45 a.m. on 107.3 The Trail.
