Scottsbluff closes strong at Class B Golf State Championships

The Scottsbluff Bearcats finished on a high note on Wednesday afternoon with a second place team finish on their home course at the Scotts Bluff Country Club at this year’s Class B State Championships.

After shooting a combined 323 in their opening round the Bearcats shot a team score of 312 on day two to finish with a two day score of 635 (+59).

Norris finishes as the state champions with a combined two day score of 630.

Norris also had the individual state champion as senior Carson Thurber shot a two day score of 146. After opening with a two under 70, Thurber posted a day two round of 76 (+2) as he won by two shots.

In earning that second place team trophy Scottsbluff was powered by a pair of top 5 finishes on the leaderboard with senior Tommy Dredla finishing solo second place and junior Noah Shaddick finishing tied for third place.

Dredla started his round going birdie-birdie and then closed with a birdies on 15 and 16 before giving one back on the 17th hole. Dredla had the low round of the day with a one under par, 71. Dredla finished +4 for the two days.

For Shaddick it was a closing round of 74 after shooting a 75 on Tuesday as he finished +5 for the championships.

Gering junior Jack Maser put together a much better second round to close his season, he shot 82 today after an opening 89 yesterday. Maser finished tied for 41st place with a two day score of 171.

Class C (at Columbus)

As of this post the Class C State Tournament was still going on in Columbus after they had round one canceled and a late start today. You can track the Class C State Tournament by CLICKING HERE.

(As of this post Mitchell’s Cael Peters was tied for 7th place.)

Class D (at North Platte)

In Class D competition it was Kimball junior Kyler Lusche finishing tied for 7th place. After an opening 80, Lusche closed out with a 76 this afternoon for a two day total of 156.

Hemingford’s Dax Powell helped lead the Bobcats to a tied for 8th finish in the team standings with his individual effort, tied for 16th place. Full team and individual scores for Class D can be found by CLICKING HERE.
