The Nebraska Panhandle and eastern Wyoming are paralyzed from this storm that has delivered blizzard-like conditions to much of the Great Plains, and it threatens more severe weather Wednesday in the South.

In the panhandle, pretty much every state and US highway is closed due to slick conditions, drifting and poor visibility.

County roads crews have started the process of clearing the hundreds of miles of county roads, officials say they’re starting with the oil roads, and then will move on to the gravel. Due to the considerable drifting, the initial plan is to at least get one lane cleared to allow travel.

The destructive storm marched across the United States, spawning tornadoes that touched down in parts of Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, where two deaths were reported.

Forecasters expect the storm system to continue hobbling the upper Midwest with ice, rain and snow before moving into the Northeast and central Appalachians.
