Scottsbluff Arson Suspect Sentenced on Amended Charges

The Scottsbluff man who was arrested on an arson charge after back to back nights of house fires at his West Overland home has been sentenced.

Skylur Nelson had been facing a Class 3 Felony of 2nd Degree arson after firefighters had consecutive nights for a blaze at Nelson’s home.

However earlier this month, amended charges were filed, where Nelson pleaded no contest to a Class 3 Misdemeanor of Disturbing the Peace and a Class 4 Misdemeanor of Violate Open Burning Ban.

Judge James Worden sentenced Skylur Nelson to 60 days in jail and a $10 fine.
