A group of about 20 Scotts Bluff County residents gathered on the steps of the Courthouse midday Monday to voice their frustration with property valuation increases and the expected tax increase, and to call for change.
Lyman resident Peggy Robinson was among those voicing their concerns with others in the group, and told KNEB News the situation is so bad now that something has to give.
Fellow Lyman resident Peggy Hill noted while elected officials continue to talk about property tax relief, small reductions through state payments gets swamped by large valuation increases
Hill said she plans on protesting weekly in the same spot against the potential for higher property taxes, and will do so until June 30, which is the last day for property owners to file a formal valuation protest with the county clerk’s office.
