A 45-year-old rural Mitchell man who was arrested in a massive drug bust in December of 2018 is back in custody after going on the lam after posting bail.

Shaun Turner was arrested five years ago after authorities found more than half a pound of methamphetamine and nearly a pound of marijuana in his camper, as well as 47 guns on the property.

After posting ten percent of his $250,000 bond, Turner never returned to court and ultimately forefeited that money.

However Thursday, Scotts Bluff County Deputies went to Morgan County, Colorado to pick up Turner and bring him back to the Panhandle to finally answer to the charges.

According to Sheriff Mark Overman, Turner had been arrested on what were considered minor charges, and had provided a false name and date of birth, and refused to be fingerprinted. Overman says while the bond amount was low, fingerprints were required, and once he provided them, Morgan County authorities were able to positively identify Turner through AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System).

Turner is still facing charges of: Possession of Meth With Intent to Distribute (More than 140 grams); Distribution of Marijuana; Possession of a Firearm While Violating a Felony Drug Offense; Possession of of a Short Shotgun; and several counts of Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
