Nebraska’s U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts is speaking out against what he sees as the weaponization of the country’s legal system.

During a conference call with reporters Wednesday, Ricketts said the recent conviction of former President Trump for falsification of business records is just the latest example of an uneven application of justice taking place in the U.S.

He said from the cases against Trump to seemingly selective prosecutions of those with conservative views and the lack of enforcement of immigration, theft, and drug laws, something must change.

“The selective application of justice is not a coincidence. It stems from a blatant, blatant disregard for the rule of law by liberal activists who refuse to accept the limits on their power. As President Biden said recently. The Supreme Court blocked me, but it didn’t stop me,” said Ricketts. “Time and again, the Supreme Court has struck down a Biden regulation only for the Biden administration to try to force it on the American people anyway. We’ve seen it with the waters of the United States rule, the ban on coal plants and the student loan bailout.”

Ricketts said 99 percent of those in the legal profession have the good of the system and country in mind, but what’s been happening under President Biden is undermining people’s faith in the justice system.

He says there needs to be a change in leadership with a full housecleaning in the U.S. Department of Justice.
