A chance encounter at an Interstate 80 rest area near York ended with a sizeable drug bust for the Nebraska State Patrol last week.
According to an NSP release, a trooper going through the eastbound rest area Friday morning saw a BMW X5 with a license plate violation, and during the encounter with the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 55 pounds of suspected cocaine hidden in the spare tire compartment.
38-year-old Nicandro Garcia-Perez of Chino Hills, California was arrested for possession of cocaine, possession with intent to deliver and no drug tax stamp, then lodged in the York County Jail.
