Regional West Foundation Awards $49,500 in Scholarships to UNMC and WNCC Students

Regional West Foundation Board of Directors is pleased to announce that $49,500 in scholarships has been awarded to 15 students enrolled at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) School of Nursing and Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC).

Each year, Regional West Foundation grants health education scholarships to students from Regional West’s service area. Following graduation, many of the students pursue employment in the communities Regional West serves. Scholarship awards are split between the 2024 fall and 2025 spring semesters.

Megan Bewley, Gering, and Maria Negreira, Scottsbluff, each received a $5,000 Regional West Foundation scholarship.

Hannah Walker, Mitchell, earned a $3,000 Harvey scholarship.

Tawananyasha Magate, Scottsbluff, was awarded a $2,000 A. Swanson scholarship and a $1,000 H. Swanson scholarship.

Gerke scholarships were awarded to: Steffi Tactacan, Scottsbluff ($10,000), Andrea Pearson, Gillette, Wyoming ($5,000), Leanne Leach, Mitchell ($2,500), and Kaitlyn Johnson, Alliance ($2,500). Leach was also awarded a $1,000 Connell scholarship and Johnson earned a $1,000 H. Swanson scholarship.

Emma Fink, Scottsbluff, earned a $2,000 Kellett scholarship and a $1,000 Drawbaugh scholarship.

Kathryn Friedrichsen, Alliance, was awarded a $3,000 Drawbaugh scholarship.

Kira Perez, Scottsbluff, received a $1,000 William Connell scholarship.

Madeline Davis, Scottsbluff, was awarded a $1,000 Ehrman scholarship.

Aretta Brennemann, Valentine, received a $1,000 Lippincott scholarship.

Katelyn Ott, Morrill, was awarded a $1,000 Ostenberg scholarship.

Jordyn Brann, Scottsbluff, was awarded a $1,500 surgical technology scholarship established by James Massey, MD, FACS.

The Regional West Foundation was established in 1972 to support the health system’s mission of excellence in healthcare. Today, the Foundation’s success is a continuation of a long and proud tradition of community support for superior healthcare services in the communities it serves.
