Quilts of Valor Presented at Morrill American Legion

Ten service men were honored Sunday at the Morrill American Legion.

The local Panhandle Blocks group out of Alliance presented these veterans with their own Quilts of Valor.

Each quilt is unique, featuring a variety of designs. In the last 5 years Panhandle Blocks have presented more than 950 quilts.

Quilts were presented to the following service members:

  • Jerry Alt Vietnam Era
  • Jeff Avila US Army
  • Mike Edwards Vietnam Era
  • Ken Fegler Vietnam Era
  • Jerry Fegler Vietnam Era
  • Robert Foster Vietnam Era
  • John Hudson Jr. Vietnam Era
  • Jerry Morehead Vietnam Era
  • Dennis Ostendorf Vietnam Era
  • Ken Spencer Vietnam Era

In addition to Sunday’s quilt presentation, there were also numerous monetary donations made to the Quilts of Valor. The Morrill Branch of Platte Valley Bank donated $1,000; The Morrill Legion donated $1,000; The Morrill Legion Auxiliary donated $800; Patty Goodschmidt donated $100; and Dr Helen Burnstad donated $100. In total, $3,000 was presented by Fred Cawiezel to Kathy Dye from the Quilts of Valor.
