Pioneers win at home over Cage Rats

The Western Nebraska Pioneers picked up a non-league win over the Cage Rat Collegiates on Tuesday night at Oregon Trail Park Stadium, the final was 10-2.

On the mound the winning pitcher was Ronan Hella, who tossed five scoreless innings and struck out eight to earn the win.

Scottsbluff native and WNCC Cougar, Cameron Meyer, pitched in relief and worked two innings of scoreless ball and struck out a pair while allowing two hits. Meyer has now thrown three innings without allowing a run since debuting over the weekend.

At the plate Aidan Young had two hits and four RBI while Michael Simien and Cooper Burgess also added multi-hit games to the attack.

The Pioneers opened the scoring with three runs in the fourth inning and then put the game away with a five run eighth inning to improve to 19-15 on the season.
