July 1st, 2024 | Chris Cottrell

The Western Nebraska Pioneers were swept at home over the weekend by the Colorado Roughriders at Oregon Trail Park Stadium.

On Friday the visitors won it 4-1 and then on Saturday the final score was 7-4.

In the Sunday finale the Roughriders scored 10 runs in the third inning to bust open the game and then the Pioneers were able to rally back and make things interesting in the bottom of the ninth when they scored twice and had the tying run on and winning run at the plate, but they stranded the bases loaded to end the game, falling 12-9.

Coming up tonight (Monday 7/1) the Pioneers are hosting the U.S. Military War Dogs in a one game exhibition starting at 6:35 pm.

You can help support local veterans in crisis by bidding on game-worn Pioneers jerseys (jerseys that will be worn tonight by the players). You can bid on the jersey by CLICKING HERE.

Bidding closes at 7 pm tonight!
