Pioneers drop series opener against Liberal

The Western Nebraska Pioneers opened a brief two game series at home on Tuesday night, falling to the Liberal Bee-Jays by the final of 12-6.

Liberal scored multiple runs in the second, fourth, and ninth innings while racking up a total of 15 hits in the game.

Alejandro Castillo started and took the loss allowing seven earned runs in three innings, he struck out four and walked four. Brooks Farrell worked four innings of relief and allowed three runs on six hits.

Offensively for the Pioneers the top performer on the night was Ethan Mooser, who drove in four runs and had two extra base hits.

The Pioneers will close out their five game homestand tonight against Liberal starting at 6:35 pm. Pregame coverage will start at 6:20 on KNEB AM 960/100.3 FM & KNEBam.com.
