June 13th, 2024 | Chris Cottrell

The Western Nebraska Pioneers earned a split of their two game series last night, beating the Liberal Bee-Jays 7-2 at Oregon Trail Park Stadium.

The Pioneers went in front for good in the bottom of the fifth inning on two run double from Jackson Yeager, making the score 4-2.

They’d add three insurance runs in the eighth inning to help close out the win.

Luke Noack and Bryce Peterson both had two hit games in the win.

The Pios got a five inning start from Brody Fahnestock, who improved to 2-0, he struck out three and allowed just one earned run. The save went to Michael Simien, who pitched a clean ninth inning.

The Pioneers are off on Thursday before starting a six game road trip this weekend that starts with a two game series against the Dodge City A’s.
