Governor Jim Pillen has given his strongest indication yet on a potential date for calling the Legislature into special session to consider property tax solutions.
In a Governor’s column released Monday, Pillen said, “Over the past few weeks, Nebraskans across the state have begun receiving their property valuation notices… (and) the common reaction can be summed up in one word — outrage.”
Pillen went on to say “To any state senator reading this — clear your schedule from July 26 to August 15. We have the people’s work to do.”
At the end of the 2024 regular Legislative session in April, Pillen said he would call a special session, but he didn’t indicate a time period.
