The 2024 Old West Balloon Fest was deflated this year due to a stretch of bad weather, but one event has been rescheduled for this weekend.
A free, community Balloon Glow and Drone show will illuminate the skies at the Mitchell Airfield this Saturday.
Last year, attendees were treated to an illuminated drone show featuring 100 synced drones. The shapes they formed included hot air balloons…. Scotts Bluff National Monument with a moving wagon… Chimney Rock, and several Nebraska farming themed illuminations as well.
This year, the company that put on the drone show featured at the Super Bowl will be putting on the show, and are expected to have at least 200 drones for this years show.
Gates open at 4:30 and the event will begin once it’s dark.
