The application period is now open for scholarships offered through the Oregon Trail Community Foundation, and the organization says there’s a new one for the coming year.
Applications for the new Juanita M. Gibbs Memorial Scholarship, available for the 2025-26 school year to Scottsbluff and Gering graduates seeking a career in business, will be accepted starting Monday, Sept. 16.
In a release, OTCF staff says Nita was a beloved resident of Scottsbluff and received her education in Business at Nebraska Western College, which was followed by a career at First State Bank for nearly forty years.
Nita seldom had an unkind word for anyone and always tried to look for the good in everyone, and the OTCF is honored to offer this scholarship in Juanita’s name.

The deadline for all scholarship applications is April 1, 2025.
