Scotts Bluff and Banner counties will soon be looking for a new administrator to help oversee and coordinate large-scale emergency response in the area.
Region 22 Emergency Manager Tim Newman announced through a social media post he’s leaving the post effective June 20, taking a similar post for Seward County, Kansas.
Newman tells KNEB News there are two things he’s most proud of during his decade of service, the first of which is the mobile command center that’s among the best in the state. “It’s a very good vehicle for use out here on these, we’ve used it quite a bit as a place to base our operations out of,” said Newman. “Secondly, I just think the relationships that I’ve built with the fire departments, with law enforcement… All of the agencies, they really appreciated me getting out there and being with them.”
Newman says while he and his wife developed many great friendships and relationships here, being closer to family and long-time friends helped him make the decision to move.
His first day at his new job based in Liberal, Kansas will be July 1, and says he expects his assistant, Ashley Hopkins, to fill the local post on an interim basis.
Newman’s social media post says he expects the job listing to go up on the Scotts Bluff County website soon, and those interested would need to submit a completed Scotts Bluff County application, cover letter and resume.
