Nebraska college students receive $70,000 in Tractor Supply FFA Future Leaders scholarships

Nine Nebraska college students received a total of $70,000 for the Tractor Supply FFA Future Leaders Scholarship: five four-year students and four two-year students.

The four-year college students received $10,000 each and the two-year students received $5,000 each.

In total, 143 students from 35 states received scholarships from the Tractor Supply Foundation, in partnership with the National FFA Organization. The organizations established the scholarship in 2022 with a $5 million commitment over five years.

$10,000 – Doane University

$5,000 – Southeast Community College – Milford

  • Jack Kreifels | Syracuse, NE | Non-Destructive Testing
  • Nolan Cook | Weston, MO | Agriculture Mechanics

$5,000 – Northeast Community College

  • Kyle Hubl | Guide Rock, NE | Construction Science

$5,000 – WyoTech – Laramie

  • Brett Pfeil | Alma, NE | Diesel Mechanics

Eighty-nine $5,000 scholarships were awarded to students attending trade schools or two-year colleges, a quarter of which declared their intended major as welding. According to the National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, spring 2024 undergraduate enrollment surged at community colleges with a high vocational program focus, growing nearly 18 percent over fall 2023 and surpassing pre-pandemic enrollment by 6 percent. Community colleges in general added 200,000 students from spring 2023 to spring 2024. The second class of FFA Future Leaders also includes 54 students who received $10,000 scholarships to pursue agriculture-related four-year majors
