Authorities in Sidney are advising residents to be vigilant following a surveillance camera video showing a mountain lion walking through a yard in the northeast part of the community early Monday morning.

According to a post on the Police Department Facebook page, the video of the lion was captured around 1 a.m. in the 1400 block of Elm Street, about a block away from North Elementary School.

Officers responded to the homeowner’s report but were unable to locate the big cat, and are working with Game and Parks and other agencies regarding the situation.

Police officials are asking anyone that sees the animal contact their department immediately at 308-254-5515 or call 9-1-1.
