The Mitchell Track & Field Invite was held on Thursday and it was Sidney pulling off the team double winning both the girls and boys meets while Gering finished second in both the girls and boys.
The Lady Raiders posted 153 points while Gering was second with 83 points and on the boys side it was the Red Raiders topping the field with 120 points while Gering posted 93 points.
Sidney’s Karsyn Leeling set a new state record in the high jump, winning with a leap of 6’1. Leeling also won the triple jump.
Fellow Lady Raider Payton Schrotberger finished first in the 100 meters and also the long jump.
The Gering girls mile relay team of Rylee Luce, Gabby Moreno, Aubrey Anderson, and Gretchen Seay set a new meet record with a winning time of 4:12.98.
Also for the Lady Bulldogs a first place came in the 200 meters from Alissa Morales.
On the boys side some highlights include Gering going 1st and 2nd in the 1,600 meters with Axton Stone and Nate Seiler while Jackson Howard won the 800 meters.
Hemingford’s Theron Miller captured first place in both the shot and discus events.
The Morrill Lions got a couple of wins on the day with Cecilia Barron winning the two-mile run and on the boys side it was Wyatt Hubbard taking first in the high jump.
