Last year was a big season for the Mitchell Tigers as they finished 8-3 and along the way they picked up the first ever playoff win in school history, as they pounded Bishop Neumann 58-20 in front of the home fans in the first round of the C2 playoffs.

The 2024 edition for the Tigers might have some new names in key spots but they’re looking to put another top notch product on the field.

Head coach Nick Kuxhausen has 45 kids out for the team this year which is the most he’s had to work with in his seven years at the helm.

Mitchell features a run-heavy approach on offense and they’ve got a big and physical offensive line coming back, that figures to be the strength of the team heading into the season. They’ll lean on that line as they look to replace over 3,300 yards rushing and 48 rushing touchdowns off last year’s team.

A quick look at the Tigers practice on Wednesday showed they’ll be just fine in the backfield and the skill positions.

Mitchell will open their season on the road at Wheatland (WY) on Friday the 30th.
