A law enforcement encounter in a shopping mall parking lot has led to a felony drug charge for a 28-year-old Nebraska man.

Shane Merrills has been charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, more than 140 grams.

In court documents, Scottsbluff Police say they contacted Merrills in a vehicle in the Uptown Scottsbluff parking lot last Thursday night, and a search of the vehicle uncovered several ziplock baggies with a crystalized substance that field-tested positive for meth, along with several unused baggies.

The eight ziplock baggies contained a total of 189.5 grams, including original packaging.

Merrills was scheduled for an initial appearance in Scotts Bluff County Court Monday afternoon, with preliminary bond set at $250,000, ten percent.
