Scout Troop 13 will be celebrating a century of Scouting with a special anniversary event on Saturday, July 13th, 2024. The event will be held at the multipurpose room at Robidoux RV Park, 585 Five Rocks Road, Gering, NE at noon for lunch.

Troop 13 has been a cornerstone of the Scottsbluff, NE Scouting community for 100 years, providing countless young men with opportunities to develop character, leadership skills, community service projects, and a love for the outdoors. The anniversary celebration will be a chance for current and former scouts, along with their families, friends, and community members, to come together and reminisce about the troop’s rich history.

“We are incredibly proud of Troop 13’s legacy of service and Scouting excellence,” said Debi Berndt, District Executive for the Tri-Trails Scouting District. “This anniversary is a chance to celebrate the generations of scouts who have come through our program, and to look forward to the next 100 years of Scouting in our community.”

The anniversary event will feature the Troop marching alongside their float in the Oregon Trail Days parade, lunch following with games, and past and present Troop 13 members. “I appreciate that Scouting has given my son AJ a meaningful goal to work toward.  He is well on his way to earning his Eagle Scout and that effort has required a lot of time, study, and work.  The lesson of setting a goal and reaching it will serve him well in his future.  It is especially meaningful with his father serving as his Scoutmaster.  It is fun for me to see them work together,” said Bridget Peck.  AJ Peck stated, “I appreciate that Scouting has taught me life skills, like first aid and map reading, and survival skills like how to build a fire and leave no trace.” “Scouting has given me so many experiences like camping, learning to fish, walking in parades, volunteering with the hot air balloons, and participating in community service,” shared Drake Connell. “Scouting has given me a lot of opportunities to learn more life skills and about other opportunities in life,” shared Davin Powell.
