November 28th, 2023 | Ryan Murphy

Two local pastors are recognized for their work during a 28+ hour armed standoff with hostages that begin in Gering on September 26th.

Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman, Gering Police Chief George Holthus, and FBI Supervising Special Agent for the Omaha Field Region Quentin Kavan convened at Gering City Hall. They were there to provide an overview of the events that led to the apprehension of suspect Bradley Garcia, as well as say thank you for the community support.

Receiving special recognition were Northfield Church Pastor Kiley Callaway and The Rock Church Pastor Tyson Lambertson. They went above and beyond to open the facility doors to help the 100-plus first responders who were on scene for the long standoff.

Kavan also had the privilege of presenting Lambertson and Callaway with individual letters of gratitude from FBI Director Christopher Wray for offering “outstanding assistance to law enforcement.”
