Local baseball teams were in action last night as the summer legion season continued with both Gering and WESTCO on the diamond.

We had the Gering Platte Valley Companies game at Sidney on KMOR 93.3 FM as Gering improved to 2-0 with a 8-3 win.

Barron Williams the winning pitcher, he struck out six in four innings while allowing three runs and walking a pair.

Isaiah Murrilo leading the way at the plate with a three hit game, he drove in four runs.

In the juniors last night it was Sidney beating B&C Steel 7-3.

Gering will host Alliance tonight in a Jr/Sr doubleheader starting with the juniors game at 5 pm. We’ll carry the Platte Valley Companies vs. Alliance Spartans game on KMOR 93.3 FM and KMORfm.com starting with a tentative start time for the broadcast of 6:45 (or 15 minutes ahead of first pitch).

WESTCO falls at Torrington

For the WESTCO Zephyrs it was a road loss at Torrington on Tuesday by the final of 12-8 as a lackluster night defensively helped do in the Z’s.

The Zephyrs committed six errors in the game and of the 12 runs allowed only five were earned. Oscar Felix got the start and took the loss allowing four runs (only two earned) in three innings while the bullpen allowed eight runs but only three were earned.

Offensively just one multi-hit game as Carter Reisig had two hits and two RBI.

WESTCO, now 4-2, will travel to Cheyenne tonight to play Post 6 starting at 6 pm.
