Disturbing court documents filed in Kimball County detail how a man meticulously killed his ex-wife’s cat.

27-year-old Eldon Lewis of Kimball was arrested on Friday on a charge of Intentional Cruelty to an Animal, a Class 3A felony.

An arrest affidavit says police went to Lewis’ house and found blood splatter, cat hair, zip ties, and an axe in the garage. Lewis also kept the feline’s head, which was located in a nearby coffee can. Officers note that while at the jail, Lewis yelled something to the effect of ‘curiosity killed the cat’, and was showing no remorse for his actions.

He was arraigned on the charge on Tuesday in Kimball County Court, with bond set at $50,000.
