OMAHA — Chadron State College women’s basketball players Taryn Foxen and Jori Peters were named to the Omaha World-Herald All-Midlands Division II honorable mention list last week, in the newspaper’s annual release.

The pair of guards finished as the top two scorers for the Eagles in 2020-21.

Foxen, while only able to compete in eight games, averaged 12.4 points and grabbed an average of 4.0 rebounds. The Aurora, Colorado, senior led the Eagles in three-point shooting (40 percent), assists (34) and steals (13). Foxen had a season-high 20 points on December 18 at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, while also dishing out eight assists and recording four boards.

Peters, a junior from Mitchell, Nebraska, averaged 9.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per game, starting all 13 contests for the Eagles. On the year, she shot 50-for-128 from the field, as well as 13-of-18 from the foul line. Peters’ top performance came on January 3, at home versus Colorado School of Mines, when she sank 8 of her 13 field goals, including 2-for-3 from the arc, totaling 19 points.

Both players are expected to return for 2021-22, due to additional eligibility granted this season.

The first team’s honorary captain was Elisa Backes of Nebraska-Kearney. Other first team members included Wayne State College’s Hayley Busse and Erin Norling, as well as Claire Kirsch and Brooke Carlson of UNK.
