Nebraska quarterbacks coach Glenn Thomas met with members of the media following Friday’s practice. Thomas discussed how the offense has been able to use certain measurements to evaluate the talent of the offense.

“I would say every day is a measurement. I wouldn’t necessarily give you a timeline,” Thomas said.  “But every day we are definitely measuring, trying to get those quantitative measures whether that would be completion percentage, mental errors, and so forth at every position. We are in the early processes of that as far as final decisions, but every day is a measurement and we’re trying to touch all those details as we go.”

Thomas specifically discussed the improved wide receiver room and how it will impact the quarterbacks in the offense moving forward.

“I think that more importantly the quarterbacks are confident,” added Thomas. “I think that there is a nice group with depth in particular at all positions. I am excited that our quarterbacks are confident in the guys that they have out there. Whether that be a one-on-one matchup or the number 2 receiver here, I don’t think there is any hesitation to go let that guy make a play.”

He also spoke on freshman quarterback Dylan Raiola and the confidence he’s shown so far.

“There’s a mannerism and aura about it, and I think that’s important we talk about that because people feed off of that, but I think there’s also a confidence that you hear in tone of voice and being vocal,” Thomas said. “The more and more reps that we get, you can feel that confidence with all of the players, all of the quarterbacks and the other players will follow that lead because of that confidence.”

The Huskers will return to practice Saturday evening with media availability to follow.
