Officials say damage was limited in a house fire in Scottsbluff Friday morning.

Scottsbluff Fire was called to a structure fire in the 2400 block of Avenue F around 6:00 a.m. Friday, June 21, finding smoke coming from the roof structure on their arrival.

Fire Chief Tom Schingle says crews quickly extinguished a fire in a wall and attic space. Damage was relatively minimal and is estimated at approximately $5,000.

Schingle says the fire was caused by an arcing electrical cable, but is still under investigation as to what caused the arcing.

Gering Fire provided automatic mutual aid as Scottsbluff Police, Nebraska Public Power, and Black Hills Energy all assisted.
